What is bandwidth?  Print this Article

Bandwidth, also known as "bandwidth", measures the traffic generated during a calendar month. This means it is counted from the first day to the last day of the month, regardless of the date the service was contracted. Each month, consumption automatically resets to the first day at 0:00 hours.

How exactly is bandwidth measured?

The calculation is based on the sum of the transmission consumption in Kbps, the number of simultaneous viewers, and the total transmission time.

For illustration, if you broadcast for 1 hour at 1,000 Kbps and maintain 10 viewers consistently during that hour, your total consumption would be:

3,600 seconds x 1,000 Kbps x 10 viewers = 36 GB (36,000,000 Kb).

If the monthly bandwidth of the contracted plan is exceeded, what happens?

The account will be suspended until the next monthly renewal cycle. It is crucial to be aware of this limit to avoid interruptions in service.

In case of suspension for having used up all the bandwidth of my plan, what can I do?

You have two alternatives: you can wait until the next month for your consumption to renew, or you can choose to upgrade your plan by paying the corresponding difference.

Recommendations for optimizing bandwidth usage

Of the three factors that affect bandwidth consumption (transmission Kbps, simultaneous viewers, and transmission time), the most relevant and influential is the transmission Kbps. Our servers operate with the h264 codec, so by broadcasting at 1,000 Kbps, you will get excellent image quality and significantly reduce your bandwidth consumption.
